About your visit to the U of C campus. A visit to the picturesque grounds offers much movement for
the imagination and material for inspiration.
Amongst the possible adventures, one such can be found at
the university’s Smart Museum which is currently exhibiting French and Japanese
prints in Awash in color, on view until January 20,2013. The museum, which functions on
donation only for visitors helps to make the experience possible for a wider audience.
Numerous prints are displayed from French and Japanese artists, rich and subtle in color all at once. The art of printmaking today does not perhaps hold the same attention, attraction or care that it did more than a century ago, but then again, nothing does or should. The aesthetic of the current show, the museum's permanent collection and the space itself make this an obligatory visit for visitors and residents of Chicago.
