Reading: Health insurance for the spirit

If you are literate then you should be reading books. It should be an activity likened to eating well or breathing correctly.  Reading is healthy and should be viewed as necessary for growth.  As lettuce is to the body, so should a good book be to the imagination.

When you decide to venture into the world of a fictional book, may I recommend Norwegian author, Erlend Loe.  The first book you will most likely find translated in English is Naive.Super.  If you speak another language you will have more luck finding other novels as his work is more often translated into German and French.  Provided that you are amused and revived by Naïve.Super then Doppler, Volvo Trucks, Muleum, and Gone with the Woman are further titles to search for.

His novels are wonderful adventures about people in various stages of life written in a colloquial and humoristic manner, so there is something for everyone and nothing to be afraid of for his language is simple and clear.  Loe even writes children’s books, Kurt and the Fish being one and others involving the character of Kurt.  Finally, if you should so happen to be in Norway, may I suggest a visit to a local book shop and the subsequent purchase of everything he has written, you will not be disappointed.
