Swimsuits and sand

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it tisyacha (a thousand) times. Repetition is the joyous labor of memory and the fruit yielded all at once. How did Roquefort cheese come to exist if not after numerous repetitive movements and cycles?

Which brings me to the recent musical release of Slava, his first LP on label Software, Raw Solutions was released April 23rd,  around the same time that last year’s EP Soft Control came out. Some folks say that the album veers away from its footwork and juke influences.  Slava however does not lay claim to one genre of music, he is best at experimentation and manipulation as such.  Who needs juke when there’s avant-juke that Slava offers.  Again, simple phrases; vulgar and sensual in a unique blend of absurdity are brought to the table. Haven’t heard the whole album yet, although if last week’s performance at the Empty Bottle and past work has anything to say for it, Raw Solutions will intrigue at the very least.

Slava seems like just the kinda guy you could go swimsuit shopping with as well as debate politics.  Today is a slava in fact, a holiday to some, a glory to others, so Happy First of May!
